CAA Welcomes Two New Members: Browning and Moore

The Cowboy Artists of America is proud to welcome two new members to its family: painter Tom Browning and sculptor Paul Moore.

Browning has been painting professionally since 1972. Early in his career, he portrayed wildlife in black and white using a medium known as scratchboard. Now working primarily in oils, Browning's subject matter is widely varied. Still life and figures, however, make up the majority of his work and are always the subjects in the workshops he teaches around the country each year. Most recently, Browning received the Prix de West Purchase Award in 2009 for his painting The Dawn of a New Day.

Moore is a native Oklahoman who has gained national and international recognition with his portrait and monument sculpture. He is a member of the Creek (Muscogee) Nation, Sweet Potato Clan and often incorporates Native figures into his work. Moore has sculpted more than 100 commissions for numerous municipal, corporate, private and international collections. His work is can be seen in the U.S. Capital Collection and the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C., as well as in other prominent institutions around the world. For the past seven years, Paul Moore has been working on the Oklahoma Centennial Land Run Monument, a massive work that spans 365 feet in length by 36 feet in width and over 16 feet in height and consists of 46 life-and-a-half-sized bronze elements.
